A few weekends ago, during a blizzard that turned to rain and then sunshine by the time we were done, a bunch of local Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographers of Alaska http://mypwpa.com/  got together and donated time, energy and talent to this event. We raised just under $1,200 for the American Red Cross http://alaska.redcross.org . We also donated lots of blood to the Blood Bank of Alaska www.bloodbankofalaska.org/ - along with others that walked throught the parking lot — the blood they received was enough to save 39 lives! We did our part in donating and helping with Haiti disaster – I hope you did yours too.

January 5, 2010, 7 p.m., ASMP/Alaska’s "First Tuesday" Slide/Lecture Series presents a panel discussion, New Media for Photographers, in the auditorium of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center.

Three Alaska photographers:

Oscar Avellaneda,

will show and tell how their use of social media has helped to promote their photography. Their presentations will be followed by a Q&A session open to the audience. The program is open to the public; admission is free.
