Pam and I know each other from a Hal Gage workshop that we both took last summer. We spent the weekend together, ate together and hiked a glacier for three days, together. It was wet and cold and a blast! We clicked. We were instant friends. She’s finally back in town after a summer of visiting friends and family out of state and she is lucky enough to have a part in “Everybody Love Whales” — the movie that Drew Berrymore is making here in Alaska. Pam was a super fun blast to shoot – and it was so much fun to catch up again. She looks super amazing, too!

what to wear to look awesome at a photo shoot with jamie lang photography wedding and portrait photographer

tips eye: the eyes have it and hat's what everyone will see first in your portraits! go ahead, play up those beautiful eyes. experiment with colors, eyeliners, shadows and shimmer. just remember, if you wear strong eye make-up, tone down the lip color. blemishes: to improve the look of your blemishes, apply a small dab of cover-up makeup to any noticeable blemishes. if they're gone in the mirror, they will be gone in your photographs! activities: your activity might actually be your outfit (sports or band uniform, t- or sweatshirt) or it might just accompany your outfit (like a rock band t-shirt with an electric guitar). if you're bringing a vehicle try to accentuate the colors of the vehicle by using a color wheel or opposites: red car greenish shirt/coat. music: bring your ipod! bring someone with you to ease the "camera room jitters." guests are invited to sit with you and watch through the camera, help with clothing, hair, etc. come prepared to have a good time, because you will!

I had the pleasure of shooting a family of seven last night in Eagle River. The sun shined on us and it was a gorgeous, warm evening. Alaska in the fall is so beautiful. Just look at that greenery!

i had the most excellent time shooting the totem pole carvers at alaska native heritage center last week. it was an amazing process to watch and i spent a lot of time (too much time?) talking with the extremely talented & kind master carver israel shotridge. all of the master carvers who were carving were amazing. i feel so special being able to be part of documenting this process. images here are of israel shotridge and bothers: joe and tj young. israel is carving eyak and tlingit house posts; joe and tj young are carving the haida house post.
