this past few weeks i’ve been photographing the children at ATY – behind the scenes and during their performances. all images from these events can be found in this folder. the first shoot i did for them was midsummer’s night dream – the musical – for publicity in the local newspapers and i pretty much adore them.
i had the most excellent time shooting the totem pole carvers at alaska native heritage center last week. it was an amazing process to watch and i spent a lot of time (too much time?) talking with the extremely talented & kind master carver israel shotridge. all of the master carvers who were carving were amazing. i feel so special being able to be part of documenting this process. images here are of israel shotridge and bothers: joe and tj young. israel is carving eyak and tlingit house posts; joe and tj young are carving the haida house post.

jon and the girls brought all the boston terrier puppies over – their first car ride and their first new place to explore. they were super hyper and hard to photograph – they ran all over the studio and wouldn’t chill out. there are a few of the “ok” photos we ended up with.

jeremy came in for head shots yesterday. i’ve shot him in several plays through the years, mostly recently in Hamlet. he’s a fabulous actor and obviously takes amazing head shots!
seniors interested in graffiti as your backdrop to get that “city” look – well, here it is!
I shot some publicity photos for Alaska Theatre of Youth’s Midsummer’s Night Dream. The show will only be happening July 16-17th at UAA’s main stage. It’s a musical with some very talented Alaskan youth. Go see it if you’re in town this weekend!

we had a super fun time at ryan’s 33rd birthday party — of course it sounds like we left way too early because all the craziness happened after we left.

i finally treated myself to some new lights — three of them to be exact. i thought they would all be way too big to use in my studio, but they’re perfect. i might have been able to buy a few bigger ones too. oh, well, i’ll have to save that for the next time i go on a shopping spree for lights.

Wee Grace’s grandparents came all the way to Alaska to visit her. These are a few of the fun shots taken a few weeks ago. Grandpa tried to make her smile but she was finished with the session and so he was swinging her around and have a ball with her. The end of the session ended with the families hair-line resemblances![]()
Previous images of Grace can be found here, here, here and here.
